High profile civil rights attorney Ben Crump and former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown came together Wednesday to accuse Wells Fargo of racist lending practices.
"This is about equality and fairness to all your customers," Crump said.
Crump, Brown and others involved in the lawsuit stood outside the federal building in San Francisco on Wednesday in support of the legal action against Wells Fargo.Sign up for NBC Bay Area’s Housing Deconstructed newsletter. "Home ownership is the heart of the American dream and Wells Fargo has pushed that dream out of reach for thousands of Black and Brown Americans for their blatant discrimination loan practices," Crump said.
Civil rights attorney Ben Crump and former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown held a news briefing Wednesday in support of legal action against Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo released a statement saying in part"We are confident that we follow relevant government sponsored enterprise guidelines. These allegations against Wells Fargo stand in start contrast to the companies long-term commitment to closing the minority homeownership gap."
