Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, announce the State of Utah has filed a lawsuit against the video sharing app TikTok, accusing the company of targeting children with an intentionally addictive and harmful product in order to make money, and then lying about it.
Reyes during a press conference in Salt Lake City said TikTok's algorithm was deliberately designed to mimic a slot machine in a direct attempt to keep children glued to the app while it showed them harmful videos that were detrimental to the users' mental health.
