Biden approval rating on climate change underwater despite push by White House
A Washington Post/University of Maryland poll released on Monday shows 57% of adults disapprove of the president's handling of climate change compared to 40% who approve of Biden's handling of the matter.The negative approval ratings on the issue come despite the White House pushing policies to mitigate and adapt to climate change, especially with investments made in the Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed into law last year.
Climate change is regularly touted as a campaign issue by Democratic candidates, but that focus does not appear to be winning over skeptical voters on the matter. The president has not declared an emergency on climate change, despite pressure from liberal advocates, but the White House has frequently touted it as a top priority.
