Joe Biden's comeback leaves Sanders little time to expand appeal

Sanders' supporters said on Wednesday the disappointing results were no cause for panic but showed that the democratic socialist senator from Vermont still needed to prove he could broaden his base enough to capture the Democratic nomination. In Texas, where Biden narrowly beat Sanders, Biden won among black voters by 60% to 17%, according to exit polls.
Biden led Sanders in the delegate count by 526-463 on Thursday afternoon, with final results from California still outstanding. Sanders said he had not had time to analyze all the results but pointed to his success among people of color in California, including Latinos and Asian Americans, as well as African Americans. Exit polling showed Sanders won among all non-white voters in the state.
Sanders canceled a speech in Mississippi planned for Friday to schedule more events in Michigan, an aide said.
