Biden says white supremacists in US won't have 'last word' and calls on Congress to 'hold social media companies accountable for spreading hate'
US President Biden calls on Americans to speak out against racism and extremism during"United We Stand Summit", and vows to ask Congress to do more to hold social media firms accountable for spreading hate.
"We have to face the good, the bad and the truth. That's what great nations do and we're a great nation," Biden told a packed hall at the White House's United We Stand Summit on Thursday. "White supremacists will not have the last word." "Charlottesville changed everything because I believe our story is to unite as people in one nation, in one America."
The summit comes just eight weeks ahead of midterm elections in which Republicans are seeking to take control of Congress.
