President Joe Biden on Monday is slated to highlight that his administration has gotten 20 internet service providers to agree to provide eligible U.S. households with high-speed internet plans that cost $30 a month or less.
The $14.2 billion Affordable Connectivity Program , which stems from last year’s $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure law, is a replacement for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program that offered subsidies of $50 a month. The White House said administration officials have “secured commitments from 20 leading internet providers — covering more than 80% of the U.S. population across urban, suburban, and rural areas — to either increase speeds or cut prices, making sure they all offer ACP-eligible households high-speed, high-quality internet plans for no more than $30/month.”
