The 2002 law authorizing the use of military force against Iraq's Saddam Hussein could be repealed after 20 years.

The congressional authorization for military action in Iraq, approved in 2002, could soon be ended.Twenty years ago this weekend, on Oct. 16, 2002, Congress granted President George W. Bush the controversial authority to invade Iraq. That use-of-force authorization is still in effect and has been used as legal justification by several presidents for U.S.

They also claimed there was a strong bipartisan majority in the Senate to pass the measure and that it “deserves a vote” during the national defense budget process in November or December. The House passed its own bipartisan version of the bill in June.
