The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told sources that it was aware of the black bear report and that biologists with FWC’s Bear Management Program, as well as FWC Law Enforcement officers, were on site at the Florida theme park, “working on capturing and relocating the bear,” who they say was moving through the park as it searched for food.
“In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own, but given this situation, staff are working on capturing and relocating the bear,” the FWC said in a statement. The My Disney Experience app said the rides that were affected include the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the train ride that circles around the entire park,Details on how the bear made it onto the property, where specifically it was spotted in Magic Kingdom, or the bear’s condition were not immediately known.
As always, when it comes to coming into contact with a wild bear, remember: Never feed or approach bears; secure food and garbage; remove or secure bird feeders; never leave pet food outside; clean and store grills; and alert neighbors if you spot a bear, FWC said in a news release.
