BlackPantherWakandaForever's Ryan Coogler confirms there's a connection between Ironheart and IronMan 👀 'I don’t want to put any spoilers out there… But yeah, there is a connection there between her and Tony, but... it’s a complicated connection.'😯

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler teases the complicated connection between Ironheart and Iron Man. Before Dominique Thorne headlines her own Disney+ series as Riri Willaims, she will first debut the role in the Black Panther sequel. Little is known about how Ironheart fits into the narrative of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but her interactions in promotional material have primarily been with Okoye and Shuri, who travel to MIT to meet with her.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Speaking with DesiNerd, Coogler teases how MCU's newest hero connects to its inaugural hero. While he doesn't delve into specifics, it sounds like the link will be established in the critically acclaimed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as he's well aware of how the two characters will be tied to each other in the franchise.

Yeah, yeah, that’s a great question. I don’t want to put any spoilers out there… I know you all haven’t seen the film yet. I know the same for your audience. But yeah, there is a connection there between her and Tony, but it isn’t… it’s a complicated connection. And Riri is a supporting character in this film, so she’s there kind of in concert with a lot of other characters.

In any case, Marvel Studios can also opt to bring back Iron Man in the MCU to establish a dynamic between him and Williams. For context, there is no hard rule about Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU, and the franchise has undone multiple deaths over the years to serve their storytelling, so, if they want to, they can find a way to bring back Iron Man to the franchise. That being said, the chances of this happening are very slim to none.

For now, Marvel Studios will have to move Ironheart's story without the presence of Iron Man. While she's expected to be Stark's Young Avengers replacement, there are other facets of her character that can be explored aside from it. Hopefully, Black Widow: Wakanda Forever is able to highlight this.
