One of the musicians behind a single that reaches the list for the first time makes history in one very specific, but very important manner, and in doing so, she proves that she may be the most successful woman in her field—at least in one respect.
Lisa’s “Money” debuts at No. 40 on this week’s Pop Songs chart, and while that means it starts off in last place, the tune is already a massive win for the musician behind the cut. Lisa is now the first solo female K-pop musician to hit the ranking. “Money” serves as Lisa’s second single as a soloist, and it has turned out to be the bigger of the pair. The Blackpink member debuted several months ago with a single album called, which featured both “Money” and the title track, which was selected as the first promotional item.
The Blackpink rapper is one of a relatively small number of K-pop acts that’s reached the Pop Songs chart, with very few soloists managing to place anywhere on the tally. Looking at artists who work on their own, she joins Psy and BTS member Suga in landing on the list. South Korean groups like Blackpink, BTS, Monsta X, Loona and Tomorrow X Together have also managed to place at least one tune somewhere on the roster.
