Blue Beetle 2 has not been greenlit yet.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Following the huge tease in the Blue Beetle post-credits scene, the movie's director elaborates on how it will affect the DC Universe in the future. Jaime Reyes has finally made his cinematic debut as Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle movie premiered this month in theaters.

While the future for the Blue Beetle characters is unclear for now, director Ángel Manuel Soto has opened up about the potential in James Gunn's DC Universe. In a post-mortem interview with Entertainment Weekly, Soto spoke about the Booster Gold TV show as a possible venue to explore the Ted mystery.

We all love Ted Kord and Booster Gold, and knowing that James Gunn also has plans for Booster Gold, it felt like the right thing for us to continue with. Ted Kord is still alive, he's somewhere out there in the universe, and whatever the future holds for our hero is open to interpretation. So, whether that is Booster Gold or Ted Kord or if it is both of them [together], the possibility exists and it is something that we want to entertain.

When it comes to Ted Kord, Booster Gold would honestly be the perfect next destination for the iconic DC hero after the events of Blue Beetle. In the comics, Ted and Booster Gold have an infamous partnership, as they have been teaming up for years and even starred together in their own comics. The Booster Gold series on Max would be a natural way to not only solve the mystery about Ted's whereabouts, but set up that popular dynamic.

For now, time will tell when any of the Blue Beetle characters will be back in the DC Universe, especially as the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes are still taking place. Even if they have plot details in place, they couldn't announce them until both strikes are over. But knowing that Gunn is already eying Blue Beetle as part of the DC Universe definitely makes things exciting for the new franchise, including where Jaime and Ted go next.
