Border Patrol: 1 person dead, another found alive in remote area near Otay Mesa [Breaking]
One person died and another was located early Tuesday morning after getting lost in a remote area east of Otay Mesa and north of the U.S.-Mexico border, according to federal authorities.
The U.S. Border Patrol was notified shortly before 2 a.m. that two people — a pair of sisters — were lost on the Otay Mountain Truck Trail. About 15 minutes after they received the call, agents found one of the sisters, who led them to the body of her sibling, Special Operations Supervisor Tekae Michael said in a statement.
The scene where the deceased woman was found was turned over to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Michael said. No further information was provided. The county Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to determine the cause and manner of the woman’s death.
