GAME 1 | The JaxIcemen achieved a franchise milestone Thursday night in the Kelly Cup playoffs. Here's how they did it.
Now, the Jacksonville Icemen are making history.
"It's going to be tight like that the entire series," said Icemen coach Nick Luukko, who won his first-ever playoff game.Hours before the game, the ECHL named Brassard as the league's goaltender of the year. The 28-year-old from Quebec led the league in goals-against average, earning the South Division's only selection to the ECHL first team.
Then, three minutes later, he did it again. Jacob Panetta and Craig Martin combined the setup work, and Harris deflected a shot that skittered past Nell for the lead, some four minutes and 24 seconds into the final period. With Atlanta and Jacksonville both ranking among the league's top five in team defense all year, goals in this series may be at a premium.
