In addition to Phillips, the Browns waived safety Bubba Bolden with an injury designation because of a hamstring injury and signed two players. They are safety Nate Meadors and running back Jordan Wilkins.
Meadors spent time on the Browns practice squad in 2021-22. He also served time on the practice squads of the Eagles , Giants , and Titans . He’s also spent time on the active rosters of the Vikings and Jaguars , playing in three games and totaling three tackles. He’ll compete with the likes of Browns third- and fourth-stringers D’Anthony Bell and rookie Ronnie Hickman — who had two picks vs. the Commanders — for a backup spot. He’ll wear No. 30.
Wilkins is a sixth-year player out of Ole Miss who has a chance to prove he can be the Browns No. 3 back. Originally drafted by the Colts in the fifth round in 2018, he’s played in 54 regular season games with four starts. In his five seasons there, he rushed 208 times for 1,009 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 35 passes for 233 yards and returned four kickoffs for 42 yards. He’ll wear No. 20.
