A 12-part podcast features employees of the popular Rancho Palos Verdes tourist attraction that featured killer whales Orky and Corky.

Tod Perry chronicled the history of Marineland by the Pacific in a new podcast ‘LA’s Own Marineland.’ Perry is pictured at Terranea Resort, the former location of Marineland. Marineland of the Pacific closed its doors nearly 37 years ago, but there are lasting memories for those who worked or played there.

Perry brought together former employees to share some of the memories of the park that was open for more than three decades, from 1954 to 1987, in his new podcast “LA’s Own Marineland.” One of those interviews was with head marine mammal trainer Larry Clark, who died in August at 85 years old. Research quantifies how much microplastic is emitted into the atmosphere by sea sprayResearch quantifies how much microplastic is emitted into the atmosphere by sea sprayA new study quantifies the amount of microplastic exported into the atmosphere from sea spray. When bubbles burst on the surface of the sea, small particles, such as salt or bits of organic matter, can be flung into the air. This process moves significant amounts of matter, enough to affect global climate dynamics by influencing the radiative balance of the atmosphere and serving as cloud condensation nuclei. But can sea spray also toss microplastics, which are now ubiquitous in the ocean, into the atmosphere?
