The Buffalo, N.Y., mayor’s race was still not called Wednesday, but more voters chose to write in a candidate than back India Walton, a democratic socialist who was the only candidate on the ballot

With all precincts reporting, Ms. Walton won 41% of the vote while write-in candidates accounted for about 59%, according to the Erie County Board of Elections. Officials will now determine which write-in votes were for Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and consider thousands of absentee ballots.
