More rain and wind are set to pummel Northern California in the coming days.

SFGATE earlier this week. An atmospheric river is concentrated moisture in the air that drops heavy rain and snow.

For this weekend, that means Bay Area residents should expect more scattered rainfall and strong winds. Friday morning may see a break in the weather, but stormy conditions, including rainfall, high winds and possible thunder and lightning, are expected to resume in the evening and will likely continue throughout the weekend.

The North Bay is likely to get hit first Friday, with up to 7 inches of rain expected there over the next several days.is forecast to then move through the rest of the Bay Area before yet another storm arrives, likely on Monday, with a third storm possible later next week. San Francisco could see up to 4 inches of rain beginning Saturday and into next week.

Because of the sustained precipitation and high winds, individuals should be on the lookout for flooding, as well as fallen trees and power lines.
