Recent cyber-attacks on Optus and Medibank have prompted calls for Queensland to update their IT systems ahead of the 2032 Olympics.

A report by the state’s Auditor-General claims Queensland is delaying upgrades to IT systems which poses a significant risk of a major data breach.

The report highlighted critical infrastructure, in particular its power grid as a natural target and is suggesting government departments implement two-factor authentication to prevent basic hacking attempts.
