Police in East Hazel Crest said they have a person of interest in custody following a New Year's Eve shooting that left a Calumet City man dead.

A Calumet City man was shot and killed New Year’s Eve in East Hazel Crest, and police in Orland Park are investigating an apparent murder-suicide early on New Year’s Day.Friday in unincorporated Crete Township in a death being investigated by sheriff’s police.In East Hazel Crest, Randy Jefferson, 30, of the 300 block of Muskegon Avenue, received multiple gunshot wounds in the 900 block of West 174th Street.

He said there were two other people in the apartment, including a male juvenile, but nobody else was injured and police at this point do not know what prompted the shooting. Police said they found two men dead inside the home, who they said were longtime acquaintances, and the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Michael Lafrey, 36, of the 145th Place address, had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the office.The 25-year-old man shot and killed in Crete Township was identified as Chaves J. Bradley of Hammond, Indiana, Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers said in a news release Tuesday.The Will County sheriff’s office was called to the 1100 block of East 263rd Street shortly after 9 p.m. Friday to investigate the shooting.
