Sanders responded to questions about putting out more detailed health records following his heart attack last fall, while Bloomberg was asked about his tax records and financial disclosure forms, which he has yet to release

Joe Biden takes a photo with a supporter at a campaign event in Reno on Monday. Here's one challenge Joe Biden faces on the debate stage tonight: Persuading the party that he is capable of beating President Trump.

For all the talk that the party is focused on defeating Mr. Trump, Journal/NBC News polling has told a different story. Given two options, most Democratic voters said in several 2019 surveys that their principal goal in the primaries was to find a candidate who came closest to their views on policy issues. By contrast, a smaller share, some 40% to 45%, said it was most important to find a candidate who could win the general election.

Something else has changed since last year: Last summer, Mr. Biden was far and away the preferred candidate of voters who said beating Mr. Trump was the most important consideration. Now, just at the moment when more Democrats are emphasizing electability, Mr. Biden is no longer the top choice among this group. His 17% support is down from 34% in July.

The One With Bloomberg—Yet Another Democratic Debate LiveblogThe One With Bloomberg—Yet Another Democratic Debate LiveblogHow many debates is too many? In 2015 the Democratic National Committee concluded six to be a “reasonable number,” enough to give candidates ample airing without diverting from the party’s bylaws. Yet there’s nothing reasonable about this year’s all-out Democratic brawl, egged on by a constant drumbeat of debates, which have now ballooned to 12; six are crammed in the first quarter of 2020. All of which leaves room for, say, a well-connected billionaire to sit out the early battles and emerge, Hunger Games-style, to plow through a handful of tributes for an easy District One victory! I digress.
