The actor and screen writer died overnight, aged 103
Kirk Douglas, the renowned stage and screen actor, has died aged 103 – his family announced this morning .Kirk's Hollywood career spanned several decades. But in his statement, son Michael Douglas, focused on who he was as a father.
'It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today,' his comment reads. 'Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad - I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son.', who married into the Douglas family in 2000 and shares two children with Michael, is also known to have had a close relationship with her father-in-law.
Underneath a beautiful black and white photo of the Welsh actress kissing Kirk on the cheek, while he reaches for her hand, Catherine wrote: 'I shall love you for the rest of my life. I miss you already'.
