Millions of fully vaccinated Americans will now be able to take an extra Covid-19 vaccine dose — but eligibility depends on the vaccine.

More than 75% of eligible Americans are at least partially vaccinated against Covid-19, but some health experts are concerned the vaccines — which are still highly effective at stemming hospitalizations and death — could wane in effectiveness for certain patients. As a result, the federal government and drugmakers have prepared to deliver booster shots to already-vaccinated people.
