The Cedar Park Library Foundation aims to raise $1.5M for the city's new library, doubling in size and featuring enhanced collections and spaces.
The Cedar Park Public Library Foundation launched a $1.5 million fundraising campaign to enhance the city's new library opening this fall, which will feature expanded collections, interactive exhibits, makerspaces, and event spaces open to all. The campaign kicked off Friday with a series of events, including a breakfast, lunch and a Texas Stars tailgate barbecue at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park.
"The funds are going to help expand the book collection," said Kristen Huguley, the foundation's campaign director. "We're also expanding the library of things." The library of things will allow patrons to check out items like metal detectors and baking pans. The new library will also feature STEM kits for kids, an interactive water table exhibit, and inspiring artwork.
At 40,000 square feet, the new building will be double the size of the current library. It will include two makerspaces, a larger youth area with interactive learning experiences, eight study rooms, and a multi-purpose room with indoor and outdoor space that can be rented for events.or by contacting the foundation for more information on tours and naming opportunities. The new library will be open to everyone, not just Cedar Park residents.
