Each year it’s about 6,000 runners strong, and who doesn’t love a postrace parade? Take part in a race full of runners decked out in green, then watch as floats and bands march past in Bay City’s annual St. Patrick's Day celebration. The 5K is one of the oldest races in Michigan, and it’s flat and chip-timed—great for a PR.
There’s also an 8K held two hours before the 5K, and, if you’re really up for the challenge, take on the Irish Double, which means completing the 8K race and then the 5K race. If you’re looking for shorter distances, there’s the Leprechaun Run the day before—in which you can choose between 1/4-mile, 1/2-mile, and 1-mile races.
