26-year-old Mason Morey was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of attempted online enticement and 14 counts of production of child pornography, the DOJ said Thursday.
A 26-year-old Lebanon man is accused of attempting to entice a minor into sexual activity online and separately producing images and videos of child pornography, the Department of Justice said Thursday.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said Mason Morey was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of attempted online enticement and 14 counts of production of child pornography. Authorities said Morey contacted the minor about sexual activity between Nov. 28 and Dec. 8, 2022. They also said on Dec. 7, 2022, Morey produced images and videos of child pornography.
Agents with Homeland Security Investigations arrested Morey in Wilkes-Barre on Dec. 8 for the attempted online enticement, the DOJ said. Following a first court appearance, U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph F. Saporito Jr. ordered Morey to be detained pending trial on the charge. According to the DOJ, the maximum penalty on these charges is life imprisonment, a term of supervised release after imprisonment and a fine, however, sentencing will adhere to federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
