Guyton, who tore his ACL in September, spent the previous four seasons with the Chargers, but they allowed him to become a free agent in March instead of tendering a contract.
COSTA MESA — Wide receiver Jalen Guyton was back with the Chargers for the start of their voluntary offseason program on Monday.
The Chargers did not tender him a contract as a restricted free agent earlier this year but announced on Monday that they have come to an agreement with him on a new deal. Guyton signed with the Dallas Cowboys after going undrafted out of North Texas in 2019 then joined the Chargers’ practice squad during the season. He appeared in three games as a rookie before playing in every game over the next two seasons. Guyton played the first three games last season, but a torn ACL sidelined him for the rest of the year.
Guyton, 25, has 61 catches for 1,023 yards and six touchdowns over his four seasons with the Chargers and provided Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert with a big-play option by making four catches of 50-plus yards during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Guyton ranked third in the NFL in 2020 with an average of 18.8 yards per catch .
