Lightning hit a child Wednesday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood near the conservatory, the Chicago Fire Department said.
It happened in the 300 block of North Central Park Avenue, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt.The child, whose age was unknown, was taken to Stroger Hospital, but Merritt did not immediately have information on their condition. Preliminary information from Merritt indicated the victim was a girl.. The watch is in effect until 8 p.m.
