The Chargers ended Kingwood’s 17-game winning streak by defeating the Mustangs 7-2 in Game 2 of a Region III-6A regional quarterfinal series.“It’s a one-game playoff for us now,” Clear Springs coach Chris Floyd said. “We’re not supposed to be here anyway. We weren’t picked to be in the playoffs in our district. Everyone said that we couldn’t beat Alvin, Dobie, and now we’re playing a really good team. It’s just baseball, you go out, pitch, play defense and you have a chance.
He allowed only one hit through six innings and had a no-hitter through 3 2/3 innings.“I was just thinking ‘go after every hitter and compete,’” Ryden said. “It doesn’t matter about Ks or anything like that.
