When agents approached his home, Rankin fired six shots at the agents through the window of his car, which was parked in the driveway, authorities said. An agent fired back at Rankin. Officers arrested Rankin and recovered a .45 caliber pistol, spent rounds of ammunition, drugs and two cellphones from his car, the release says.
After his arrest, Rankin was also indicted on charges that accused him of trafficking underage victim between May 2019 and September 2019, according to the indictment.
