The purpose of the nonprofit Greta Thunberg Foundation “is to promote ecological and social sustainability, as well as mental health,” according to the Right Livelihood Foundation.

The 2019 Right Livelihood Award given to Thunberg said Thursday Feb. 20, 2020, that the 1 million kronor prize money honor has been used to establish the non-profit Greta Thunberg Foundation, to promote ecological and social sustainability, as well as mental health.
Thunberg, 17, was one of four recipients of the 2019 Right Livelihood Award, which was founded in 1980 to “honor and support courageous people solving global problems.” Thunberg said in January that she had established a foundation to transparently handle the money she gets from such things as book royalties, donations and prizes.
