There's real, tangible data suggesting closing the entrepreneurial gender gap for good would have a beneficial impact for all

Although the researchers found that there are many factors that contribute to the discrepancy, including a lack of human capital, social capital and financial resources, they found that a key factor is that women have less access to support networks.

They found that the best networks are built on three principles: intent, inclusion and interaction. The first principle is to make sure there are benefits to joining a network, such as access to human, financial and social capital, as well as ways that the network can help women achieve their business goals. The second is to create an inclusive community with new entrepreneurs and more experienced ones and an active membership, ideally with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

“It is no exaggeration to say that women’s entrepreneurship has the power to change the world—and the benefits go far beyond boosting global GDP,” Unnikrishnan and Blair wrote, “Closing the gender gap in entrepreneurship and fueling the growth of women-owned enterprises will unleash new ideas, services, and products into our markets. And ultimately, those forces may redefine the future.”
