CNN+, a new streaming service meant to complement the cable news network, is finally ready, kicking off at 4 a.m. Tuesday Arizona time.Morse, CNN executive vice president, chief digital officer and head of CNN+, certainly isn’t lowballing the new service.
Once it achieves liftoff there will be three kinds of programming: live shows, a library of existing movies and shows and interactive interviews. More details on each momentarily.CNN+ will cost $5.99 a month, or $59.99 a year. If you sign up within the first four weeks you get 50% off the monthly plan, for life, or $2.99 a month.
Put another way, there’s room for more depth and detail: CNN provides the who, what, where and when. “And CNN+ will of course be able to make sure we’re up to the minute and we’re newsy and urgent,” Morse said, “but increasingly CNN+ will be there to provide the how and the why.”. It’s a work in progress, of course, but there are some intriguing options already.
The on-demand features CNN’s original series and films — fare that includes older programming like episodes of “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” as well as new offerings like the upcoming “Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico.”
