A Code Orange air quality alert will be in effect on Saturday for Jefferson and Shelby counties, but other areas will also have higher ground-level ozone concentrations tomorrow.
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management said ground-level ozone concentrations could be high enough tomorrow to affect sensitive groups. Those include people with respiratory conditions and children. The general public is not expected to be affected. An area of high pressure nearby will cause very hot temperatures and light winds in Alabama on Saturday, which could help to keep pollutants closer to the ground.Here’s the forecast for Saturday for all of Alabama:* Limit driving and combine errands.* Use household, workshop, and garden chemicals in ways that keep evaporation to a minimum, or try to avoid them when poor air quality is forecast.
