Substitute venues are necessary because Excite Ballpark, the minor league facility where the Spartans play their home games, is not available this weekend. The Aztecs have a 1 1/2-game lead over San Jose State. They finish the regular season at Air Force and home against New Mexico , who are third and fourth in the standings, respectively. The four-team Mountain West tournament will be hosted May 25-28 by Fresno State, which — at 22-22 and 11-13 — needs to rally down the stretch to participate.
