Some of the students may be awarded a Metallica scholarship — created three years ago by the band of the same name — to help meet their costs for the program.

“The program offers comprehensive training for backstage work,” Folger said. “Some of this work is really intricate and involved. The certificate prepares people for an eventual production position.” “They find the job for you,” Ofsanik said. “That’s pretty cool. It’s a guaranteed internship. It’s been a dream to be a technician, and this program can propel me there faster.”
