Researchers explored the link between pregaming at sporting events, risky alcohol consumption, and additional substance use among university students. A recent study by the School of Public Health at Texas A&M University indicates that college students who engage in 'pregaming,' such as tailgat
who consume alcohol report also using cannabis or other drugs while drinking.
Although the findings paint a convincing picture of pregaming and the co-use of alcohol and drugs, the researchers note a few limitations to this study. First, the study sample did not reflect the overall student population in racial and ethnic makeup.
Pregaming is a part of life on many college campuses, yet it is associated with a greater risk of causing alcohol-related harm, Montemayor says.
