City officials expect more than 200,000 revelers will attend the downtown parade along 17th Street. GoAvsGo

Fans flocking to the Colorado Avalanche’s Stanley Cup parade and celebration in Denver on Thursday should plan to arrive early and be prepared to navigate crowded city streets with road closures and public transportation detours and delays., from Union Station to Civic Center, and the following celebration centered in Civic Center Park, with the Stanley Cup champion Avs taking center stage on the steps of the Denver City and County Building.

The parade starts at Union Station at 10 a.m. and participants, including the players, coaches, staff, families and guests, are expected to all reach the celebration site by about noon. The route heads down 17th Street to Broadway, then south a couple of blocks into Civic Center.
