What's new in Naperville? How about the Gia Mia Italian restaurant opening in the old Nichols Library building.
The old Nichols Library in downtown Naperville is now officially Gia Mia, the sixth in a chain of Italian eateries and featuring Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas.Popular west suburban Italian restaurant chain Gia Mia opened its newest location this week in the old Nichols Library building in downtown Naperville.“We just finished a great lunch shift,” manager Christian Callejas said Monday afternoon. “We are fully booked. That’s great for our first night.
“All of our pizza ovens are built in Italy,” he said. “But ours is so big, it had to be built in the store instead of in Italy. So, we brought the builders from Italy to Naperville to install the oven.” He’s probably right. Gia Mia is just south of the 5th Street Station, steps away from the Central Park Bandshell, close to North Central College, shopping, and the Riverwalk.
Besides the Neapolitan pizza, popular dishes include chicken parmesan and Romano crusted chicken. For the full menu visitHours at the Naperville location are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.Other Gia Mia locations are in Geneva, St. Charles, Wheaton, Downers Grove and Elmhurst.Naperville police will be hanging out at a coffee shop Friday to raise money for the Illinois Special Olympics.
