Construction worker rescued after fall into 20-foot trench on west end of Mission Valley [Breaking]

A construction worker was seriously injured after he fell into a deep trench on the west end of Mission Valley on Tuesday morning.

The call came in just after 9:35 a.m. reporting the incident at a construction site along Friars Road, near Interstate 5. San Diego Fire-Rescue officials said their crews found the 35-year-old man about 20 feet down into the trench. They pulled the man out and took him to a hospital in the most acute medical status, according to Fire-Rescue officials.

A second person at the site asked for medical assistance and was also taken to a hospital, but in much less serious condition.No information was available regarding how the man fell and what sort of work site it was.
