Attorneys for R. Kelly return to Chicago courtroom for hearing on state charges
Nearly a month after R. Kelly was convicted of multiple federal charges in Chicago, his attorneys were back in a Cook County courtroom, where the disgraced singer still faces state charges in sexual assault and sexual abuse cases involving four women, three of whom were girls at the time of the alleged abuse.
Kelly himself was not at Thursday's hearing, where Cook County prosecutors said they aren't ready to make a decision if they will continue pursuing charges after Kelly was convicted in two earlier federal cases. Prosecutors said they were reviewing transcripts from Kelly's federal trial in Chicago, in order to help them file any necessary motions related to the state charges.
