The best leaders seek to know their employees on a deeper level than the contributions they make at work. These leaders make it a point to ask about life outside the office.
They know the names of their employees’ children, pets, spouses and others whom they care for, and they take time to discuss employees’ passions outside of work — and share their own as well. As a result, their interactions with employees are richer, and the entire team benefits from the connections that are made. There’s a deep feeling of belonging in this kind of team, and it helps carry employees through periods of heavy activity or even turbulence.
