Here’s how schools and businesses across the country can use smart technology to secure buildings, respond quickly to incidents and keep students and staff safe.
For one Indiana high school, smart video security proved to be a cost-effective solution to detect acts of vandalism. After repeated break-ins after hours, the school quickly realized that students were able to easily access the building’s rooftop and damage the property. Initially, the school’s proposed solution was to build a wall to deter students, which would have cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Schools are also utilizing license plate recognition technology, which expands security to the perimeter of school grounds. In the same Indiana school district, an employee was terminated and did not receive the news well. Fortunately, school security officers entered the employee’s license plate information into the video system and less than an hour later, an alert was triggered when the employee was attempting to enter another facility on school grounds.
