Franklin County home sales plummeted in September, the clearest sign yet that the Columbus-area housing market is weakening.
During the month, 1,371 homes changed hands in the county, 34% below last September, according toThe median sales price of a Franklin County home rose 6% from a year ago to $265,000, suggesting that demand for homes remains.
“The Franklin County housing market is still solid, though it is mirroring national trends of a market cool-down,” Stinziano said. September's figures offer the latest - and most dramatic - sign that the housing market, like much of the economy, is slowing. September's decline in county home sales follows an 18.7% drop in August, according to the auditor's office. It also comes after the widely-followed S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Index
