Sylvester Stallone's underdog boxer is one of the most beloved movie characters of all time, partially because of how familiar audiences are with him. His story unfolded across six movies, each of which focused largely on the aging boxer himself.
The Creed trilogy has thus far followed a similar path, focusing primarily on the rise and late-stage career of Adonis Creed. However, the three films have done a great job providing more depth to the characters surrounding Creed. Creed III in particular spends a significant amount of time expounding on not only Creed's story but his family's as well.
In Creed III it's established that Adonis' young daughter Amara aspires to be a boxer like her father. She gets in trouble at school for punching another student, showing the same talent and affinity for fighting that her father showed in his youth. Making Amara the central figure of the franchise moving forward makes a ton of sense, as it could explore her own story, while keeping Adonis involved in a mentor role.
Creed Has Also Set Up More Spinoffs, Which Rocky Didn't While Amara is posed to be the new central figure of the franchise, the Creed series has succeeded in laying the groundwork for other spin-offs as well. While Rocky certainly faced his share of colorful foes, very few of them were ever explored in enough depth to merit inclusion in future movies or shows. Creed on the other hand has set up several totally viable options for spin-off movies due to the care its taken with its villains.
For example, Creed II revealed the tragic nature of Viktor Drago, son of Rocky's old foe Ivan Drago. Far from the near-robotic punching machine that his father was, Viktor has been established as a victim of his father's own desire for vengeance and neglect at the hands of those in power in his home country.
