After its abrupt cancellation by HBO Max, MinxStarz got its second wind from STARZ, meaning audiences can watch episodes of season 2 beginning on July 21. 🔗
The premiere of Minx season 2 is nigh, and the clever comedy is celebrating its new home on STARZ. Set in the 1970s, Minx follows Joyce Prigger and Doug Renetti in their quest to create the first porn magazine for women in Los Angeles. The series also stars Idara Victor as Tina, Jessica Lowe as Bambi, Lennon Parham as Shelly, and Oscar Montoya as Richie — with the iconic Elizabeth Perkins joining season 2 as Constance.
Despite the wave of critical acclaim and early renewal, HBO Max canceled Minx while it was in the middle of filming season 2. Luckily, production on the new episodes continued, which allowed the socially conscious and devilishly humorous series to be rescued by STARZ. The new season will release on the STARZ app on July 21 at midnight, followed by the premiere of the first episode on the STARZ channel at 9pm.
What To Expect From Minx Season 2 Minx season 1 ended with the eponymous magazine dealing with all manner of obstacles, from lawsuits to a looming ban on pornography in the city. Doug gives Joyce full creative control of Minx, but Bottom Dollar Publications is in a financial crisis that may be hard to get out of. Shelley and Bambi, meanwhile, gave in to their mutual attraction despite the former not being sure she was ready to leave her husband and kids.
Soon after the release date of Minx season 2 on STARZ, the trailer was released with the promise of the series and magazine being "back and better than ever." Doug and Joyce have sold Bottom Dollar to a retired shipping magnate, but the magazine is now a success beyond their wildest dreams. While Doug struggles to maintain control under new leadership, Joyce struggles to stay true to her core beliefs as she rises to stardom.
Minx has been lauded for its stellar cast and feminist perspective on the era, but the unexpectedly sex-positive message of the series is one that calls attention to men and women alike. While Johnson and Lovibond are the glue that holds the show together, the ensemble cast keeps the laughs coming and the plots spinning throughout each episode.
