Crooks Fire: 38% contained; Sunday's weather will 'test the fire'
Jacobson said fire crews were"heavily engaged" on Saturday to prepare for the weather conditions coming up and make sure the fire stays within its current footprint.
The weather expected on Sunday will"test the fire," according to the release, and hot spots could become active and spread. The northwest of the fire near Mount Tritle is a priority since it is full of dead trees that increase fire risks. Slate Creek and Ash Creek Ridge are also areas of high concern, the release states.
The Forest Service closed sites in Groom Creek and Lynx Lake recreation areas, White Spar campground, Prescott Circle Trail and the Prescott Basin were closed on April 21. A full list of what is closed can be found on the Forest Service's website.People evacuated from Walker Road north of mile marker 10 and west of Big Bug Mesa were allowed to return home on Monday at 3 p.m.
