CTA Brown Line service running with residual delays after truck fire at Western stop
CHICAGO â CTA Brown Line service is running with residual delays after a truck caught fire - causing a temporary suspension between Kimball and Belmont Sunday morning. According to the CTA's website, the suspension happened just before 5 a.m. as a result of track conditions.Chicago police said officers responded to a fire that happened underneath the tracks at the Western stop - causing electrical and structural damage to the tracks.
According to Alderman Matt Martin , a food truck caught fire while parked underneath the tracks. No Injuries were reported.Trains were operating only between Belmont and the Loop as shuttle buses were used as a connecting service between Kimball and Belmont. Riders were also encouraged to seek service alternatives, including bus routes and other rail lines.In a statement, CTA said, 'We are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Allow extra travel time.'As of 1:30 p.m.
