CU Buffs beat Cal in OT for first win of season in interim head coach Mike Sanford’s debut

The Colorado football program will not be making history after all — at least not the bad kind.

New coach, new energy and new results.

CU fired head coach Karl Dorrell and defensive coordinator Chris Wilson on Oct. 2, handing the reins of the team to Sanford. Shrout’s touchdown pass to Lemonious-Craig was initially ruled incomplete, but after a review, it was determined that Lemonious-Craig barely got a foot inbounds. The crowd erupted when the reversal was announced.Cole Becker’s 24-yard field goal with 4:30 to play in regulation gave the Buffs a 13-10 lead, but Cal responded. The Bears used the rest of the clock and Dario Longhetto drilled a 34-yard field goal on the final play of regulation to send the game to overtime.
