Boys basketball: Cypress Falls rides dominant second half to win over Kingwood

The Eagles defeated the Mustangs 55 to 26.When Cypress Falls coach Richard Flores looked up at the scoreboard Tuesday afternoon, he saw that his Eagles were losing to Kingwood by five points while scoring just two with 2:55 left in the first quarter.
“We had poor rhythm and spacing,” Flores said. “It wasn’t a very good look at all. Luckily, we hang ourselves on the defensive end and started to make some plays to get back into the game. We didn’t look like ourselves at all, but we were able to make some adjustments and really play better in the second half.”
The Eagles broke open the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Mustangs 25-7 to take a commanding 45-26 heading into the fourth. Cy-Falls’ defensive dominance continued in the fourth quarter, where Kingwood didn’t score a single point.
