The National Recording Registry aims to maintain and preserve sound recordings that have cultural, historic and aesthetic significance to life in the United States.The song that catapulted Latin hip-hop into the mainstream this week became the first reggaeton song inducted into the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry. It joins the likes of Queen's"Bohemian Rhapsody," President Franklin D.
"For generations, music from Latino and Latina artists has been part of the soundtrack of American life," Castro said in a statement."Today's selection adds the voices of groundbreaking artists to our nation's cultural archive and acknowledges their lasting impact on American culture."
